I’m not sure why but I’ve never decorated for any of the USA holidays (the 4th, Memorial Day) but this year I decided to at least adorn my door. I’m always in the mood for a new wreath!!
I was going to do a lima bean wreath colored blue (see my pink lima bean wreath). I even bought the lima beans. But, I was thinking of the fabric wreath I recently did and remembered some red and white striped Ikea fabric I had leftover from my son’s 1st birthday so decided to go in that direction. Here’s what I came up with.
Here’s how you can make your own.
Buy a wreath form or make your own using a pool noodle and grab your fabric.
I cut my fabric into 3 inch wide strips. And I just started wrapping and pinned each strip in the back of the wreath.
I didn’t have any blue fabric on hand and I wasn’t making a trip to the craft store so I just decided to grab some blue felt which I always seem to have and I used the same technique I used in my Spring wreath. I cut my felt into three strips, laid them on top of each other and then threaded them together all the way down. I then gathered the felt and made it look like a ruffle.
I hot glued the blue ruffle to the wreath. Very pretty as is. But I knew I wanted to add some stars.
I cut out some stars with my Silhouette Cameo and hot glued them to the blue. It may be a little tough to tell in the pictures but the white in the fabric is slightly off-white so the stark white paper was no good. So, I added some spray adhesive and some glitter (I finished it off with some hairspray – helps to keep the glitter in place) and I love how it turned out.
Super easy. I had everything on-hand except for the wreath but with a 50% off coupon, it was super cheap. A fun and happy celebratory wreath for our nation’s birthday!
I’d love to see how you’ve decorated for the 4th. Put your links in the comments so I can pop over to see.
